Public Member, ICE Board of Directors 2017-2019
Mary F. Macomber was a retired attorney and business executive and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She served as a Public Member on the ICE Board, the NCCA Commission, the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer, the Dental Assisting National Board, and the International Association of Social Work Board of Directors. Mary also was a member of the Main Committee for the 2015 NCCA Standards Review.
Mary’s passion for service knew no bounds. In addition to serving the credentialing community, Mary volunteered throughout the South Florida area where she lived. She served as Chair of the Board of Directors for the South Florida Hunger Coalition and Chair of the Broward County Commissioners Multi-Ethnic Advisory Committee. Mary’s legal and business acumen, combined with a well-deserved reputation for compassion and common sense, earned her two gubernatorial appointments, one as Chair and Public Member of the Florida Department of Health Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling and one as Chair and Supervisor of the Sunshine Water Control District.
The recognition and awards Mary received during her lifetime are too numerous to list here, but among them were the LifeNet4Families Legacy of Leadership Award and the Broward Outreach Center’s Changing Lives Award. Our community is that much richer thanks to the myriad contributions of Mary Macomber and she will truly be missed.
